Women Forward!
Exhibition
Produced in 2015
The exhibition Women Forward celebrated the 100th anniverisary of womens right to vote in Denmark. At the same time it elaborates the equal rights in art from 1915 to current day. The exhibition presents a feministic project with seven contemporary female artists, who each use a dialogical approach in their reinterpretations of works by overlooked female artists from the 20th century. The exhibition presents installations with a broad selection of media and approaches to the theme in question – all of which have emerged through the artists immersion into their predecessors artworks and the social conditions the women worked in. The works hold a common break with and a goal of changing the way both past, current and future perspectives, voices of art history and society is viewed. The exhibition is curated by Birgitte Ejdrup Kristensen and art historian Ulla Angkjær Jørgensen. See catalogue and press release - both in English - on this page.
